Today, it's the Sporting Bears annual Drive Rides at Thirlestane Castle in the Scottish Borders. That means that most of yesterday was spent setting up our garage compound, putting up marquees and banners, and sorting out car positions etc.
It all looks a bit chaotic. That's because it is! This is my 13th year doing this, and it still seems to be a bit random. We get there though!
When I get home, I start the car up and check it over, so that it at least starts easily!
So today, it's up early for the trip down, which takes just over an hour. On the way, I do the usual overtake of 50mph MGBs around the bypass, and also encounter a very nice early Mustang.
I arrive and park in my allocated "slot" and then help to direct other drivers into their spaces (seeing as I was the one who set them out yesterday).
Then it's time for the drivers' briefing (no cussing, no farting, no speeding, no abandoning people in the middle of nowhere, usual stuff) and a word from our charity for the day, then it's down to business.
Over the day, I get 4 or 5 drives, so plenty time in between to graze on my packed lunch, and catch up with my pals in comfort!
The drive home is uneventful, except for the usual massive queue on the bypass, which at leasts tests the cooling system to its limits.
