A day of utter arseholery! And I can't even blame anyone else!

Setting the scene: I'm getting a new kitchen installed at the house. It has been going on for a week and a bit. This means that the garage has been used to store all the new kitchen workshop before they are installed by the joiners. It also means that they are using the drive to cut bits of wood etc as they go.

It also means a skip on one side of the drive. So the routine has been: every morning, move 2 cars out of the drive to give the joiners working space and then every night, put them back, obviously. Sounds easy enough eh?

Except tonight, day 10 of the kitchen installation, as I'm putting the Chevy back in, I catch the corner of the skip with the back wing, just in front of the chrome trim. I have no idea how I managed it - I had it lined up in the mirrors and everything, but still hit it...

Anyway, I've dented the back edge of the rear wing, and the corner of the skip has torn a wee crease in it.

Bugger!

No photos because, well, I just didn't think of that! Instead, I stick some silver gaffe tape over the dent and the tear, to keep water out - it doesn't look too bad!

Had my lunch yesterday with a pal, who is also into classic cars. Mentioned the skip incident, and he admitted to something similar, and told me the name of a company who repaired it. So today, I give them a call.

So I give them a call. "Bring it in" they say. So I do!

The guy is pretty good, he has a look, he is sure they can repair it without too much dismantling, a proper old skull repair without replacing parts. He takes a few photos and will get back to me with a price once he has spoken to his foreman (who restores minis and likes this kind of work).

The garage calls me today - apparently the repair is going to cost £600, no parts required. I book it in for 2 September.
