I haven't had much to report on the Chevy front so far this month - I've used it to go to the shops etc, and just generally for knocking around.
Last Monday, though, I was sitting in the house when there was a knock on the door - here's a young couple accompanied by a huge biker, complete with big beard, ponytail, tattoos, and a mean expression. "Jehovah Witnesses" he says... Well I see though that alias instantly - turns out he's a friend of Jock who works along at the farm, and this is his daughter who's getting married in 2 weeks. Now I remember that Jock asked me weeks ago if I would help his pal with his daughter's wedding, but I've heard sod all since, so assumed that was that - I didn't even know the date.
So anyway - they have a look at the car, she likes it, she wants it, so I agree a price, and dad the biker gives me his card. Turns out he restores and paints motor bikes. I ask him if he's any good at pedal cars - "Nae bother" he says - so we agree that he'll do me that favour in return. Fair exchange is no robbery!
So that brings us to today. The car is now along at the farm, and I've spent a couple of days this week cleaning it up, inside and out. I want it to be gleaming for this girl's big day!
Today I've finished the cleaning and polishing, so it's time to add the final touches - the white ribbons and bows...
and some flowers on the mirrors.
All ready - all I have to do on Saturday is collect the car, put flowers in the back window, and get dressed up!

Good job I left the car along at the barn - it was bucketing rain yesterday! Today is dry and sunny though, so it's looking good! First I go to the florists to collect the flower display I ordered, then along to the barn to extract the car.
A few finishing touches to the interior...
So, suitably suited and booted, I head off over to her house, for pickup at 1.30. He's arranged to have another car for the bridesmaids, the black 1947 Chrysler that was at the Knockhill show in June. We set off for the church, making sure we arrive "fashionably late" by a couple of minutes.
Waiting outside during the service...
Then we head over to Linlithgow Palace for some official wedding photos - we have to stay by the cars.
The new Mr and Mrs Gallagher with the Chrysler.
She wanted a shot in the car too!
The bride with her bridesmaids
I've had a great day out, really enjoyed the looks on their faces when they saw the cars, and when they heard it start up. Sometimes your hobby brings you to people and situations that just brighten your life.
